Apple-Cranberry Crunch

TODAY'S FOOD TIP

If you’re looking for something a little different to make for Thanksgiving dinner today, chances are you already have all of the ingredients on hand for this delicious Apple-Cranberry Crunch. I got the recipe years ago from a book called AMERICAN FAMILY STYLE by Mary Randolph Carter, and I’ve made this dish every Thanksgiving since then. It’s become a family favorite. Enjoy it as an alternative to cranberry sauce or try it for dessert.

APPLE-CRANBERRY CRUNCH

3 c. McIntoch apples, chopped but unpeeled
2 c. cranberries, washed
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. light brown sugar
3/4 c. chopped pecans
1 1/2 c. rolled oats
1 stick butter, melted

Mix apples, cranberries, and granulated sugar and place in bottom of an ungreased shallow casserole or tart pan. Mix remaining ingredients and crumble on top of fruit. Press lightly. Bake, uncovered, in a preheated 350 degree oven 45 minutes.

Happy Thanksgiving!
