Saturday's Food Tip: A Beginner's Guide to Bitter Melon

You’ve probably seen this strange looking vegetable at your local farmer’s market or Asian market. It looks like a cucumber that has had a very bad life, or maybe a rather unfriendly pickle. Actually though, this unattractive little vegetable is a member of the squash family. It’s called a Chinese bitter melon.

Bitter melon has many health benefits. And it can be used in a variety of dishes. Here’s an easy recipe for Eggs and Bitter Melon, which is a good way to try this exotic veggie for the first time, if you like eggs.
