Okay, so you don't usually think of cooking classes when you think of a botanical garden. But this spring, there will be plenty of things cookin' at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, Missouri. If you live in the St. Louis area, you'll want to sign up for at least a few of these terrific offerings:April 11: Master a phyllo dough pastry and a complete Mediterranean meal by cookbook author Bessie Theodorou.
April 18: “The Secrets of Sourdough” from Fr. Dominic Garramone, a Benedictine monk from St. Bede Abbey in Illinois and host of the highly successful public television series, “Breaking Bread with Father Dominic.” Explore the science of sourdough and learn to create delicious quick breads, biscuits, pancakes and waffles.
April 26: "Wine Basics" demystifies selecting and serving wine while offering distinctly different samples to compare.
May 10: The Diabetic Gourmet class. A Culinary Institute of America-trained chef, a registered dietician and a diabetes educator come together to prepare and modify recipes for diabetics or for people who just want to eat healthier meals.
