Wednesday's Food Tip: Another "Gotta Have" Gadget

Here’s another kitchen gadget you’ve just "gotta have" if you’re a serious cook or just serious about nutrition.

powerjuicer

Jack LaLanne has been around for decades. Heck. Even I’m old enough to remember his first fitness shows on TV. I was in the 5th grade and our teacher, Mrs. Smith, brought a little black and white set (they were ALL black and white sets in those days) into the classroom so we could exercise with Jack LaLanne (this was BEFORE there were regular P.E. classes in elementary schools - yes, I'm THAT old!).

Anyway, one day Mrs. Smith told us to move our desks to the back corner of the classroom because we were going to do some exercises. Then she switched on the TV.

There was Jack LaLanne, all decked out in that strange little stretch suit (yeah, he’s worn that thing for ages!) and what looked to be ballet slippers (ick!). He encouraged ladies watching the show from their living rooms to move the furniture out of the way so they could do some serious stretching.

Then he said the magic words that made every 10 year-old in Mrs. Smith’s 5th grade class gulp.

"Do these exercises with me on a regular basis and I guarantee you’ll look 10 years younger!"

Yikes! Ten years younger? We weren't even born yet! We''ll look like....well, nothing! I thought to myself.

Mrs. Smith noticed the uneasiness in the classroom.

"I know what you’re all thinking," she said. "But don’t worry. He’s not talking about you. He means all the older ladies like me will look 10 years younger. You’ll just look healthier if you do his exercises."

Unfortunately, Mrs. Smith didn’t exercise with our class back then, so we never did find out if his routine really would make older ladies look 10 years younger. But today Jack LaLanne has something else that can help women (and men, too), look, and even feel, 10 years younger. And it will help 10 year-olds be much healthier, too. It’s the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer.

You can buy the juicer online at various places, but look for it locally and save on shipping charges. Try your neighborhood Bed, Bath, and Beyond store (it usually sells for $99.99 there). But first, listen to a short infomercial about Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer here and find out all about it.
