Make your own caramel sauce with sweetened condensed milk. This is easy to do. Just be sure NEVER to heat an unopened can of sweetened condensed milk in the oven or in a pan of boiling water. It could explode! Instead, open the can and pour the milk into a 9 inch pie pan and cover the pan with aluminum foil. Put this pan in a larger shallow pan. Fill the larger pan with hot water (about an inch deep). Bake at 425 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours, until the milk has become thick and caramel colored.
